BESSIE LAUGHTON (1898 - 1905)

The 1800's was a tough time for the young generation, with many succumbing to an early death from childbirth, scarlet fever, dropsy and accidental death.  The family records show the following for these special members of the Laughton clan, the details of which have been updated after our September 2004 visit to the Parkhill Cemetery family plot : (click on images for larger pictures)

Bessie Van Wyck Laughton 1898-1905

Bessie Van Wyck Laughton whose exact birth date I do not have but whose records show that she passed away at only 3 1/2 years of age (Uncle Paul's original family tree).  The tombstone photograph shows her dates as 1898 to 1905, which would put her at 6 or 7 years old?

This funeral notice says that Bessie died at the age of 7 years, 1 month and 19 days. The date of her death is recorded as December 26, 1905. I note that the revised family tree from Uncle Paul shows a correct on the dates for Bessie and has also noted "Jaundice". A new date of birth has been entered, showing November 7, 1898. That may have been calculated based on the information in this image.

Bessie's death is also noted on the LDS search of Ontario Deaths 1869 - 1947:
