| | JENNIE R. LAUGHTON (1870 - 1927)
Jennie Laughton was the 3rd
daughter of John Laughton 1829 who was born April 15, 1870 and died
January 23, 1927. The family records indicate that she was never married
and that she is buried with her parents. Our site visit to the Niagara
Falls Riverview Cemetery confirmed that her stone is place at the
family plot.

The
family records as well as the stone show the "R" or
"Robertson, yet there is no indication that Jean or Jennie
was married to a Robertson. It is an unlikely middle name
for a female, so it does raise a question.
It could be that Jennie was another one of
the Laughton's that lost a beloved early in life or a
relationship. |
Jean is shown as "Jennie" on her death
certificate as well as the grave marker. Orkney records note that Jean
and Jane were used interchangeably.

The only
known photograph of Jean or Jennie is this photograph shown on her
father's page. Information that came with the picture states:
Starting at the top of this picture you
will note that there is a picture of John
Hugh Laughton (William Severn Laughton's brother) who is holding a
smaller picture of his wife Louise Estelle Van
Wyck (from where many of those that followed received the middle
name "Van Wyck").

David B. 1861, and Julia 1867

Although we
do not have a close up photograph of Jennie Laughton, we did find her
"Death Certificate" in the LDS
Family Search Pilot Project while doing a general search of Laughton
names.
The record shows that she died on January 23, 1927
in Cleveland, Ohio USA from a cerebral embolism, after an operation.
Other information on the death certificate confirms what has previously
been reported.
This document and others report that the
birthplace of the father "John 1829" was in St. Mary, Scotland
and her mother Katherine was born in Mayo, Ireland. |
