Lindy Ryan Laughton noted when she sent this photograph that her mother-in-law (Eleanor) and father-in-law (Bill), as well as her husband (Mike) always referred to "Jean" but that in the Social Security Death Index she is listed as Margaret E. Retchless (nee Laughton).

This is not to be confused with Margaret Elizabeth Laughton 1874, who would be Jean's aunt and sister of William Severn Laughton. I initially made that mistake!

In the package of information from John Ivan Laughton in the fall of 2008 there was a small newspaper clipping that mentioned "2nd Lt. Robert Retchless". That story speaks of Bob Retchless in his hut with his buddies and the row of ugly barges they keep going "night after night". Perhaps with time we will find out more about what Bob was doing at that time.

This photograph was in the collection of April 2009 from John Ivan Laughton. It was marked as the "Twin's Sisters" and those twins were William and John, sons of William Severn Laughton 1872.

There is no doubt when you compare the other photograph of Marion that she is the elder of the two on the left of this picture. Her younger sister shown on the right is thus Margaret Jean E. Laughton 1911.
