ROLL OF SERVICE

In June 1921 the University of Toronto prepared a text of more than 600 pages that provided details of their staff and students who served in the Great War of 1914 -1918.  Included in that book are the sections on George Van Wyck Laughton, in his capacity with "The University Overseas Training Company", prior to and after service in France.

The applicable pages are as follows (click on link for PDF version of original text):

Pages xli - xliii: The University Overseas Training Company, G. V. Laughton post service as Joint Commander of the Company.

Major Needler and Captain Wallace remained in charge of the Company throughout. When the first subalterns went overseas early in 1917 two of the Sergeants were promoted to succeed them, T. H. Jameson and J. P. S. Nethercott. When later these were appointed to the Tank Battalion, Lieuts. G. V. Laughton, M.C., P. K. Heywood and W. W. Lang, members of the University who had returned from overseas, took their places.

In late 2005 we loaned Malcolm Moody ( Archive CD Books Canada) a copy of Grandfather Laughton's reference book to make a digital copy so that it would be available to other researchers to use.  If you wish to purchase a copy of this CD, please contact them at the web site link shown.

The book is now also available for direct download off the Archive.org web site, where it has been loaded by the University of Toronto. The link for that is:
